Here are some highlights...

Wednesday morning the first graders performed a song at the school assembly...here is a video of the song!

The first grade readers have been practicing their independent and partner reading habits. This week they practiced the three different ways to read to a partner:

  • Echo read (take turns reading the same thing)
  • See-Saw read (take turns reading different things)
  • Choral read (read the same thing at the same time)

When you are reading with your first grader at home, I encourage you to practice these different ways of reading together!

In writing, students have been doing a great job sharing their small moments and stretching their small moments across pages. We have been focusing on being a supportive writing partner by listening, giving specific compliments and asking questions. It is awesome to see the eager and excited authors of Room 112!

We met with our 4th grade buddies and the fourth graders and they "rolled" their own monsters! To create their monsters, they rolled a die and what they drew depended on what number they rolled. There were some pretty spectacular monsters, and even some monster families!
